All aboard the Algoma Central Railway! The highlight of this tour is a wilderness excursion into the spectacular Agawa Canyon. Ablaze with color during autumn, the train ride into the canyon is a favorite way for fall ‘leaf peepers’ to experience some of the most spectacular fall color in North America. This visit to Canada is a feast for the eyes, be sure to bring your camera along so you can share the beauty with your family and friends.

Day 1

Traveling northward through New York State will take us past the Thousand Islands and to our lodging for the evening in Gatineau, a town located outside Ottawa, Canada's capital city. Stops for rest & lunch will be made enroute. Dinner is included this evening.

Day 2

This morning, after breakfast, we will visit the Canadian Museum of History, housing over 269,000 sq ft of displays spread over four floors. After lunch at the museum, we will follow the Ottawa River Valley to our lodging for the evening in North Bay, Ontario. Dinner will be on your own.

Day 3

After breakfast, we will make our way to Sault Ste. Marie with an afternoon lunch stop and a visit to the Canadian Bushplane Heritage Centre, which is dedicated to preserving the history of bush flying and forest protection in Canada. Following the lovely North Channel shoreline will bring us to our lodging for the next two nights in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. Dinner will be on your own.

Day 4

Following breakfast we are off on a scenic experience! We will board the Algoma Central Railway for a ride through a vast expanse of forest and mountains interlaced with countless lakes and brawling rivers, it'll be a travel experience that will leave you breathless. As the Agawa train winds its way through this one-of-a kind terrain, a GPS-triggered commentary weaves the story of the region. A 90-minute stop in the canyon (only accessible by rail) will allow us time to photograph the waterfalls and rocky cliffs in this virtually unspoiled area. An included boxed lunch will be provided aboard the train. We will return to Sault Ste. Marie by late afternoon. Dinner will be on your own.

Day 5

After breakfast, our morning travels will take us to Manitoulin Island, the world's largest lake island, completely surrounded by the fresh water of Lake Huron. A lunch stop will be made enroute. Passing through Native Territory will bring us to South Baymouth where we will board the Chi-Cheemaun (the Big Canoe) for a two-hour ferryboat ride to Tobermory. Traveling south through the resort area of Bruce Peninsula will bring us to our lodging in Owen Sound. Dinner will be on your own.

Day 6

After breakfast we'll depart for the Elmira/St. Jacob area. This area is much like Lancaster's Amish farmland used to be. We will enjoy a guided driving tour of the farmlands and have lunch before traveling on to our lodging for the evening in Niagara Falls, NY. Dinner will be on your own.

Day 7

After an included breakfast we'll have a few hours of free time to explore the Niagara Falls area on our own. A scenic drive through New York and Pennsylvania, with stops for rest & lunch enroute, will bring us home by early evening.

A passport is required for ALL travel between the U.S. and Canada.
If you are bringing children on the tour other than your own, customs is requiring that you have a registered letter of approval from their parents.

Our intention is to run each tour as originally planned and published. However, if deemed necessary to do so, Perkiomen Tours reserves the right to make changes to tour components, schedules or itineraries without prior notification.

Tips for Perkiomen motorcoach drivers and tour escorts are not included in the price of this tour. We feel that these gratuities should be extended on an individual basis and dictated by the level of service provided.

Motorcoach seating is assigned at the time of reservation but cannot be guaranteed. Although we do our best to keep each traveler in the seat assigned at the time of reservation, there are times that it is necessary to move seat locations. Please be sure to verify your final seat number(s) with your driver at the time of boarding. Historically, daily seat rotation was practiced on most multi-day tours. We have suspended this practice for a period of time. Seat rotation will be explained by your driver or tour escort if reinstated.

To fully participate in this tour may require extended amounts of walking. There may be steps, inclines, uneven surfaces or extended periods of standing. Participants with physical limitation should take this into consideration.
