This morning we leave Pennsburg for our exciting Massachusetts vacation. We will check-in to our hotel with time to freshen up before an included dinner this evening.D
After breakfast at the hotel, we will meet our local guide for a day of touring. Boston is the city where America's roots were formed and driving through it is like reading the pages of an American history book. This morning we will head to the Massachusetts State House, including the Hall of Flags, House of Representatives, the Executive Chamber, the governor's suite and the Senate Chambers. This afternoon is free for lunch and shopping at Quincy Market and Faneuil Hall. The guide will point out sights along the Freedom Trail as well as the Boston Common, the Public Gardens, the Back Bay and Beacon Hill. Next, visit the Old North Church. This is the historic site where the sexton, Robert Newman, climbed the steeple to hang the two lanterns which were the signal to Paul Revere warning that the British were marching upon Lexington and Concord. We will tour the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum. Dinner is included this evening.B, D
After breakfast, we will meet our guide for a day exploring the inner harbor of Massachusetts Bay and the Atlantic Ocean. Our day begins with an amazing experience onboard a whale watching vessel. Travel into the natural habitat of a diverse marine environment. Try to spot Humpback, Minke, and Fin Whales going about their daily business. An onboard naturalist will introduce you to everything you see and will answer any of your questions. After lunch on your own, we will dive into the world of water without getting wet at the newly renovated New England Aquarium. Explore vibrant coral reefs and discover how the aquarium collects their specimens. This afternoon we will meet our personal Colonial Character guide at the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum. This museum features full scale replicas, artifacts and interactive elements. Meet Sam Adams and participate in the re-enactment of the destruction of the tea. Board a tall ship and see one of the only two known surviving tea crates. Dinner is included this evening.B, D
Following breakfast at the hotel, our local guide will travel with us to Salem for a driving tour. Ride down Essex, Federal and Chestnut Streets to view some of the finest examples of 18th century architecture built by ship captains who had amassed great wealth. We will tour the House of Seven Gables. Built in 1668 by Captain John Turner it became one of the most famous structures in American history when Nathaniel Hawthorne penned his famous novel. This afternoon enjoy free time for lunch on Pickering Wharf. Salem is synonymous with witchcraft. No visit would be complete without a visit to the Salem Witch Museum. Witness the testimony of the hysterical girls, the suffering of the blameless victims and the decisions of the fanatical judges who sent innocent people to their deaths. As we travel to the seaside towns of Gloucester and Rockport, stops will be made at the Fisherman's Memorial and the Memorial to the Fishermen's Wives. You will see for yourself why Walt Disney said that Rockport was one of the most picturesque towns in America. This evening we will enjoy another Massachusetts must…a lobster dinner.B, D
After breakfast, we will head to a behind the scenes tour of Fenway Park. See the Green Monster, press box, Red Sox Hall of Fame Club and more. This afternoon we travel to Lexington and Concord. It was here that the first shots of the Revolution were fired as the farmer took a stand against British oppression. Your guide will take you to North Bridge where the "shot heard round the world" was fired. See the Minute Man statue, Battle Road, Paul Revere Capture Site, Minute Man National Park and much more. Dinner is included tonight.B, D
Today, after breakfast, we say farewell to Massachusetts and journey home.B
