Cape Cod and The Islands

Day 1

Today we will travel to Hyannis, MA, a village on the Cape Cod peninsula. A lunch stop will be made enroute. Upon arrival we will check-in to our accommodations for the next 4 nights. Dinner will be included this evening.

Day 2

After breakfast we will meet our guide for a full day of touring. We will travel the historic Route 6A - Old King's Highway, a scenic byway winding through centuries of Cape Cod History. It winds past hundreds of historic structures which characterize its early development. During our touring we will view a Cape Cod lighthouse and stop at the Cape Cod National Seashore Visitor's Center. Lunch will be on your own in Provincetown, at the tip of Cape Cod. Take some time to enjoy the wonderful variety of restaurants, shops, and galleries that make this artists/fishermen village so unique. This afternoon you will be able to choose between two activities - Whale Watching or Dune Tour. Dinner is included this evening.

Activity Description

Whale Watching - board an excursion vessel and travel into the natural habitat of a diverse marine environment including birds that migrate here from all over the Atlantic and fish which use these shallow waters to feed. Try to spot Humpback, Minke, and Fin whales going about their daily business. An onboard naturalist will introduce you to everything you see and will answer any of your questions about the whales, birds, fish and lighthouses.

Dune Tour - be driven in an SUV along the shoreline of the protected lands of the Cape Cod National Seashore.

Day 3

This morning we'll have breakfast before we board the Hy-Line ferry for a cruise to the stunning island of Nantucket. Once we arrive, we'll enjoy a guided tour of the island. Following the tour, you'll have time for lunch and shopping on your own. During your free time, be sure to visit the Nantucket Whaling Museum (admission included). Immerse yourself in the rich Nantucket history at this museum where thousands of artifacts and treasures are on display. Dinner is on your own before departing the island.

Note:

Please consider wearing comfortable walking shoes for the cobblestone streets and brick sidewalks that line Nantucket's downtown area.

Day 4

Following breakfast, we will travel to Woods Hole where we'll board the Steamship Authority ferry to the island of Martha's Vineyard. Once we arrive, our guide will show us around the island while we learn about the history and lifestyles of the islanders as you pass through the picturesque villages. There will be free time for lunch on your own in the historic whaling town of Edgartown. Complete your day on the island in Oak Bluffs strolling through "Cottage City" with its brightly painted and decorative "gingerbread" trim. Dinner is included this evening.

Day 5

After we have breakfast & check-out of the hotel, we will travel to Rhode Island, the "Ocean State". Here we will board the ferry to Block Island. Also known as Manisses (which translates into "Island of the Little God") this island has pristine beaches, protected by lighthouses and spectacular bluffs offering breathtaking views all within just 10 square miles. Once on the island there will be time to enjoy a guided sightseeing tour and lunch & browsing on your own. Dinner will be included.

Day 6

Once we complete breakfast, we will depart Cape Cod and begin our journey home. Our arrival home is scheduled for early evening.

Tips for Perkiomen motorcoach drivers and tour escorts are not included in the price of this tour. We feel that these gratuities should be extended on an individual basis and dictated by the level of service provided.

Motorcoach seating is assigned at the time of reservation but cannot be guaranteed. Although we do our best to keep each traveler in the seat assigned at the time of reservation, there are times that it is necessary to move seat locations. Please be sure to verify your final seat number(s) with your driver at the time of boarding. Historically, daily seat rotation was practiced on most multi-day tours. We have suspended this practice for a period of time. Seat rotation will be explained by your driver or tour escort if reinstated.

To fully participate in this tour may require extended amounts of walking. There may be steps, inclines, uneven surfaces or extended periods of standing. Participants with physical limitation should take this into consideration.
