Christmas in Myrtle Beach, SC

Day 1

Today we depart for Myrtle Beach. With stops for rest and lunch, our arrival is scheduled for mid-evening. We will check-in to our oceanfront accommodations at The Beach Cove Resort, the location of our lodging for the next 4 nights. Dinner this evening is on your own.

Day 2

This morning after breakfast you are free to enjoy the hotel amenities and beach at your leisure. We will then board the Barefoot Queen Riverboat for a scenic luncheon cruise. Enjoy beautiful views along the Intracoastal Waterway in a newly renovated 70 ft authentic wooden paddlewheel-style riverboat, featuring two heated interior decks and three outdoor deck spaces to enjoy the fresh air. Afterwards, you may choose to get started on your Christmas shopping at Barefoot Landing. Shop the many national retail shops and unique boutiques as you stroll around the outdoor setting, or enjoy free time and amenities back at the hotel. An included dinner is followed by the Christmas Show at The Carolina Opry. The Calvin Gilmore Theater is transformed into a winter wonderland where the magic of the season comes alive in "The Carolina Opry Christmas Special", a dazzling, jolly, and sentimental musical celebration of America's best loved holiday. Dubbed "Father Christmas" by McClatchy papers, Calvin Gilmore produces and directs the show with his usual award-winning flair for production.

Day 3

Following breakfast, our adventures begin at Ripley's Aquarium for their Festival of Trees. While Myrtle Beach may not have forests of evergreens to wander through this holiday season, Ripley's Aquarium halls will be decked with more than 100 trees as it brings the "Festival of Trees" display back for another year. Enjoy the decorated trees, as well as the exhibits, live shows, and a gift shop. Moving glide paths run alongside rays and sea turtles. Soak up the beautiful colors of exotic fish and you come face-to-fin with thousands of other fascinating creatures from barracuda and sharks, to jellies and eels! After an included lunch we will head back to the hotel to relax and freshen up, or you may continue your Christmas shopping at Broadway at the Beach. Transportation will be available so you can stroll around the ever-exciting world of Broadway at the Beach and discover shopping treasures all over our 350-acre property. Enjoy one-of-a-kind shops and boutiques along with a host of nationally recognized shopping names. Tonight, we will enjoy dinner and entertainment at Pirates Voyage. Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show invites you to join the most famous pirate, Blackbeard, and his quartermaster, Calico Jack, as they lead the Crimson and Sapphire crews in a battle on land, on deck, in water, and high above full-sized pirate ships in an indoor hideaway lagoon! Be amazed by beautiful mermaids, tropical birds, and much more all while you enjoy a fabulous four-course feast.

Day 4

This morning you will be free to sleep in and relax or revisit the Barefoot Landing. Transportation will be available for those that would like to browse the shops and attractions. This afternoon will include a matinee show at the Alabama Theatre. This year's Christmas extravaganza brings an incredible combination of talent, scenery, and special effects to the Grand Strand, to produce a spectacular new holiday musical experience sure to put you in the season's spirit. "The South's Grandest Christmas Show" will instill the true meaning of Christmas with its combination of traditional Christmas classics and contemporary holiday favorites. Later this afternoon will be a special delight as Brookgreen Gardens comes to life amid the soft glow of more than 4,500 hand-lit candles and countless sparkling lights, creating a delightful holiday experience. Each section has its own unique light display and nightly shows. Indoor exhibits are also featured during Nights of a Thousand Candles. Grab a cup of cider, walk the paths of the historic gardens, listen to carolers, and hear the holiday bells ringing in the Christmas cheer. This event is mostly outdoors, please dress accordingly and wear comfortable walking shoes.

Day 5

After breakfast we will depart for home. With stops for rest and meals en route, arrival home is scheduled for later this evening.
