Day 1

Today we depart for Plymouth, Massachusetts. Dinner will be included after checking-in to the Hampton Inn on the Cape Cod Canal.

Day 2

After a continental breakfast at the hotel, we will depart with our local guide. Today’s highlight is a guided Cranberry Bog tour by A.D. Makepeace, the world’s largest cranberry grower. The guide will show you examples of an existing bog, currently in production and will discuss the stages of the cranberry growing process. There are two methods of harvesting and you may even see it happening. Learn from the expert cranberry growers about farming and harvesting this fruit named “craneberry” by the Pilgrims. This afternoon we will board the Viking for a 2-hour cruise on the Cape Cod Canal. Dinner will be included this evening.

Day 3

Today, following a continental breakfast, we will rediscover the earliest beginnings of the country in America's Hometown - Plymouth. Picture stops will be made at Plymouth Rock, the traditional site of disembarkation of the Pilgrims in 1620 and at the Forefather's Monument, the largest solid granite monument in the United States. Our next stop will be at the Plimoth Grist Mill. During your visit, explore the mill and learn about the importance of mills in the 1600's, the process of grinding corn, and the ecology of the Town Brook area, including the annual herring run. We then will continue our touring and board the Mayflower II, a reproduction of the ship that brought the Pilgrims to the New World. Learn about the 1620 voyage, the perils of maritime travel and the tools of 17th century navigation. Lunch is on your own in downtown Plymouth. After lunch, we will board a Lobster Tales Cruise to learn about the many creatures that live in Plymouth Harbor. Experience a "hands on" approach to see how lobsters are harvested from their natural environment. Roll up your sleeves to help haul in lobster traps. The rest of the afternoon will be spent visiting Plimoth Plantation, the first permanent European settlement in Southern New England. It is the site of a living museum dedicated to recreating 17th century life in the New World with the Wampanoag tribe. Step back in time as costumed interpreters portray residents of the Colony. A traditional Thanksgiving Turkey dinner buffet will be included at the plantation.

Day 4

Today we depart for home with cranberries in our pockets and a deeper appreciation of our American Heritage. Arrival home will be early evening.
