Ghosts of Gettysburg

Day 1

This morning we will visit the Gettysburg Heritage Center and Museum. This is an educational and entertaining experience for all ages. Learn what the Battle of Gettysburg meant to the people who lived here during the war. Lunch will be included at a local restaurant. After lunch, will meet up with a step on guide for a two-hour tour of the battlefield. Later this afternoon we will check-in to the Best Western Hotel in Gettysburg followed by dinner at the Dobbin House. Next we will walk inside the Haunted Orphanage, where innocent children were tortured by a cruel and abusive matron. Venture into the Jennie Wade House, site of the Battle's only civilian death, and where something lingers still. To wrap up the evening, we will have a house ghost tour and hear stories in the cellar at the Farnsworth House.

Day 2

Following breakfast, we will travel back in time with a guide in period attire as we walk through the Shriver House, a meticulously restored 1860 home to learn the other side of the story - the civilian side of the Battle of Gettysburg. We will then depart for home, with a visit to Sunrise Soap Company in York and learn about how their soaps are made. After an included lunch, we will visit Turkey Hill Experience which features interactive exhibits allowing you to learn about dairy culture, the story of Turkey Hill Dairy, and how the company's ice cream and iced tea flavors are selected and created. You will truly experience what it's like to be a Turkey Hill Dairy ice cream maker for a day, including the opportunity to create your own virtual ice cream flavor. Arrival home is scheduled for early evening.

Tips for Perkiomen motorcoach drivers and tour escorts are not included in the price of this tour. We feel that these gratuities should be extended on an individual basis and dictated by the level of service provided.

Motorcoach seating is assigned at the time of reservation but cannot be guaranteed. Although we do our best to keep each traveler in the seat assigned at the time of reservation, there are times that it is necessary to move seat locations. Please be sure to verify your final seat number(s) with your driver at the time of boarding. Historically, daily seat rotation was practiced on most multi-day tours. We have suspended this practice for a period of time. Seat rotation will be explained by your driver or tour escort if reinstated.

To fully participate in this tour may require extended amounts of walking. There may be steps, inclines, uneven surfaces or extended periods of standing. Participants with physical limitation should take this into consideration.
