This morning we continue our journey to Louisville, KY. En route we will stop in Cincinnati for a tour of the Great American Ball Park and a visit to the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame & Museum, followed by free time for lunch on your own. Our lodging for the next three nights will be located at the 5-star Brown Hotel, a Louisville landmark since 1923. Behind its striking Georgian-Revival facade is a blend of Old World elegance and modern day comfort. The Brown Hotel reflects the rich heritage and Southern gentility that have made Louisville a hot spot for bluegrass enthusiasts, equestrians and Derby Day revelers. You'll spend the evening at The Evan Williams Bourbon Experience. It is an artisanal distillery in downtown Louisville on Whiskey Row and celebrates the legacy of Evan Williams, Kentucky's first distiller. This is an immersive experience that brings to life the history and tradition of Kentucky's native spirit. Dinner will be included in The Speakeasy.B, D
Following breakfast this morning we will meet our step on guide who will point out Louisville's highlights. Included is a guided tour through the factory where Louisville Slugger bats are crafted with the same pride that started in 1884. You'll learn every step in the process and receive a miniature Louisville Slugger bat! We'll visit the Frazier Museum and discover artifacts that once belonged to famous politicians and celebrities, great Native American warriors, soldiers, and frontiersmen. Also in our tour is a visit to the American Printing House for the Blind which provides specialized materials, products and services needed for education and life to promote independence of people who are blind and visually impaired. This evening we will enjoy a dinner cruise, a charming reminder of the riverboat era, as we cruise on a beautiful stretch of the Ohio River.B, D
This morning will be free to enjoy the hotel and downtown Louisville at your leisure. This afternoon we will have a guided walking tour of historic Churchill Downs, followed by a film at the Kentucky Derby museum titled "The Greatest Race." While at the museum, we will have time to explore the two floors of interactive exhibits that walk you through every stage of a Thoroughbred's life, from birth to first Saturday in May. Learn about all the great history of the race dating back to the inaugural running in 1875 to our most recent Kentucky Derby champion and experience all the traditions that have transformed the race into what it is today. We will then enjoy "Hatitude", where you'll get to make your own Derby Hat! At "Horse Talk" we will learn a few tips and tricks on picking a winner! Then it's off for a thrilling evening in Millionaires Row at Churchill Downs with dinner and live racing action. Experience the history, athleticism, pageantry and glamour of Thoroughbred racing!B, D
After breakfast, we will depart for Lexington and the Kentucky Horse Park. Most places can only tell you stories about legends, but at the Kentucky Horse Park, they may just trot right by you. This park is hands-on, so you can touch the horses, smell the hay and see first hand the majesty of the horses. Be sure to enjoy the Hall of Champions Show, the Museum of the Horse, American Saddlebred Museum, Horse Drawn Tour and the big Barn!
