Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket & Block Island

Day 1

New England's heritage has traditionally been linked to the bounty of the sea. This is especially evident when you see the elaborate captain's homes typical on Cape Cod and the islands of Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket and Block Island. Today we will travel to Hyannis on the Cape where we will spend three nights. Dinner will be included at a local restaurant this evening.

Day 2

This morning we will board a ferry for a cruise to Nantucket Island, the greatest whaling port on the East coast during the 17th century. A local guide will introduce us to this living museum. After time for lunch and browsing on your own, we will cruise back to the mainland. This evening, enjoy dinner in Hyannis.

Day 3

Today we visit one of the country's best preserved Victorian-era summer resorts, Martha's Vineyard. Following a relaxing ferryboat ride, our local guide will point out 19th century Gingerbread houses, old sea captain's homes and charming Edgartown, the oldest settlement on the island. After time for lunch and browsing the delightful shops, we will cruise back to the mainland. Dinner will be included at another local restaurant this evening.

Day 4

This morning, after breakfast, we travel to Point Judith, Rhode Island where we will board the ferry to Block Island. Block Island is truly Nature's Treasure on the Sea, offering an unspoiled rural setting where you can feel like you have stepped back to a gentler, quieter time. The Island offers a rich history, miles of sandy beaches and a wealth of activities. After a tour and free time for lunch on your own, we will ferry back to Port Judith. This evening's lodging will be located in Mystic, Connecticut where you will have an evening at your leisure.

Day 5

This morning we will visit the Mystic Aquarium followed by free time for lunch on your own. After a tour of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, we will continue our homeward journey. Arrival home is scheduled for later this evening.
