Day 1
Midwest hospitality and a relaxing riverboat cruise create a unique atmosphere from which to witness the beautiful fall colors along the mighty Mississippi. The colors of fall begin today as we cross Northern Pennsylvania. Tonight our lodging will be in Elyria, Ohio.
Day 2
A morning visit to the Sauder Village in Archbold, Ohio will be highlighted by a hearty lunch in the Barn Restaurant. You can scout around the century-old cabins and shops filled with craftsmen making goods just as their ancestors did. Our next stop is the Studebaker National Museum. Here we will see displays of horse-drawn and motorized vehicles manufactured in South Bend. Tonight's lodging will be in the Chicago area.
B, LDay 3
We will arrive in the Mississippi Riverside city of Moline, Illinois in time for lunch on your own before we visit the John Deere Pavilion, which was created as a celebration of the past, present, and future of agribusiness. The Pavilion is recognized as the world's most comprehensive agricultural exhibit. We will then travel a short distance to LeClaire, Iowa. This afternoon you are free to enjoy LeClaire at your leisure before checking-in to our hotel.
CBDay 4
Fast, elegant, and quiet as she slips through the water, the Twilight is the most richly appointed riverboat to be launched in a hundred years. Victorian steamboat architecture inside and out pleases the eye. There are three decks with comfortable dining salons, and sundecks with lounge chairs for those who wish to snooze in the sun. After boarding the boat, there is a continental breakfast. The Twilight takes pride in maintaining the river's grand tradition of good and bountiful food. Lunch and dinner will be served aboard. There are morning and afternoon snacks and complimentary coffee and iced tea are always available. Buses will be waiting at the boat landing to take us to Grand Harbor Resort in Dubuque.
CB, L, DDay 5
This morning, after a hearty breakfast, you can visit the Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium, the Old Jail, or Diamond Jo Casino. After a good morning in Dubuque, we board the Twilight for the trip down river. As before, there is plenty to eat, historic comments by the captain, and live music. After dinner, we will disembark and return to LeClaire, Iowa for our night's lodging.
B, L, DDay 6
This morning we begin our journey home by way of Indianapolis, Indiana where we will enjoy a visit to the Eiteljorg Museum, before checking-in to this evenings lodging.
CBDay 7
Before we depart Indianapolis, we'll enjoy a tour of this great city. Then we continue east, for our overnight lodging near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Dinner this evening is included at a nearby restaurant.
CB, DDay 8
This morning we'll enjoy a guided tour of some of Pittsburgh's highlights. After our tour, we will continue homeward enjoying even more of the beautiful Pennsylvania countryside.
