Day 1

Enroute to West Virginia we'll stop at the Penn Alps Restaurant for an included lunch. Following lunch we will visit the Spruce Forest Artisan Village. The village is comprised of cabins that have been moved to the site from area farms and homesteads which today provide studio space for local artisans. The oldest building, Markley House, dates back to 1775. Each building has a unique history. While at the village, see the Casselman River Bridge that was constructed in 1813. At the time, it was the largest stone arch bridge in America. We will then check-in to our lodging in Elkins, WV for the next two nights. Dinner and a self-guided tour will be included this evening at Oxley House, located in the Historic Tygart Hotel. Step out onto the balcony to take in the beautiful views and after dinner, stroll the hotel where the walls serve as a canvas for the work of local artists. Our evening entertainment will be provided by the award-winning bluegrass band, Crandall Creek.

Day 2

After breakfast we will meet our local guide and visit the West Virginia Railroad Museum & Appalachian Discovery Center, both located in the Historic 1902 Darden Mill, which operated as a grain mill until 1943. Next, we will board the New Tygart Flyer for High Falls. This wilderness excursion features mountain grades, an "S" curve tunnel, a high bridge, and miles of unspoiled mountain views. Vintage diesel-powered locomotives climb along the cascading Shavers Fork of the Cheat River to the High Falls of Cheat. Enjoy the views and lunch while relaxing in the climate-controlled coach. Upon returning to Elkins, we will depart for Beverly, WV for a visit to the Beverly Heritage Center, a compelling heritage attraction.
