Day 1
Sit back and relax as we head to Cleveland, OH. Stops for rest & lunch will be made enroute. Upon arrival, we'll check-in to our hotel before an included dinner of traditional Bavarian cuisine at Hofbrauhaus Cleveland. This restaurant was modeled after the legendary 400+ year old Hofbräuhaus in Munich, Germany.
DDay 2
After breakfast, we will meet our local guide for a guided driving tour of Cleveland featuring the Gateway Sports Complex, Playhouse Square, First Energy Stadium, Public Square, Rockefeller Cultural Gardens, East Side University Circle, Cleveland Clinic, museums, and more. Next, we will head to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for self-guided touring. Get ready to rock in this 150,000 square-foot museum featuring seven floors, five theaters, and ever-changing exhibits. Guests will see the largest Elvis collection outside of Graceland and the largest Beatles collection anywhere. You will be able to view many pieces of Michael Jackson's stage wardrobe, including his sequined glove display. Afterward, we'll enjoy lunch on our own in Little Italy before a guided visit to the Christmas Story House where the holiday favorite movie, "A Christmas Story" was filmed. Take in the neighborhood where the outside shots were filmed and visit the museum filled with costumes and memorabilia! Next, we'll head to Sweeties. This is the world's largest candy store boasting over 20,000 square feet with over 400,000 pounds of candy! It has all the old-time favorites as well as the new kids-crazes. We'll end our day with a dinner show, entitled Six Ages of Women. This hilarious One-Woman show will keep you laughing for weeks.
B, DDay 3
Following breakfast, we'll enjoy a self-guided tour of Stan Hywet Hall & Gardens. This fabulous mansion was built between 1912 and 1915 by F. A. Seiberling (co-founder of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company). With over 21,000 panes of glass, hand-carved panels of massive wood, and 23 fireplaces throughout, each room tells its own story. The gardens boast seventy acres of beauty and majesty of color. Upon finishing our tour, we will receive a boxed lunch and head to Holmes County, home to the world's largest Amish Community. Once there, we will enjoy a guided tour at David Warther Carvings, a fifth-generation carver of Swiss heritage. The carvings created by David are intricately worked of antique ivory, ebony wood, and abalone pearl. Each of the 90 works (and counting!) is heavily engraved through the art form known as scrimshaw. We will make a stop at the Amish & Mennonite Heritage Center, home to the cyclorama mural Behalt. Learn the history of the Amish and Mennonites via the 260 x 10 foot circular mural, view a short film on the lifestyle of the local people, and enjoy free time to visit the large book and gift store. We will then check-in to our hotel and depart with our guide for an included family-style dinner at an Amish home.
Day 4
After breakfast, we'll head to Hershberger's Farm & Bakery where you can see and shop their amazing selections of baked goods and produce. While there, we will enjoy an Amish buggy ride with an Amish driver. Next, we'll head to Heini's Cheese Chalet Factory & Retail Outlet where they make over 30 varieties of natural cheese. Watch as the craftspeople make the famous All-Natural Cheese through a one-hundred-foot viewing corridor. You can see every aspect of the cheese making process. Afterward, we'll head to Lamp & Light Candle for a candle carving demonstration. Family-owned and run by Amish sisters, this local candle company hand-pours and hand-scents every candle they make. Lunch will be on our own at Walnut Creek Cheese. We will stop for some free time at Walnut Creek Amish Country Flea Market before departing for our hotel with time to freshen up before an included dinner at the Amish Door Restaurant. Our evening will conclude with a 2-hour musical and comedy variety show at the Amish Country Theatre featuring live music, hilarious comedy skits, and fabulous ventriloquist, Ken Groves. There is lots of fun and audience participation to be had.
B, DDay 5
Following breakfast, we will depart for home. With stops for rest & meals enroute, arrival home is scheduled for mid-evening.
