SAIL250® Maryland & Airshow Baltimore

Day 1

SAIL250® is a five-city, semiquincentennial commemorative program that features a traveling flotilla of international tall ships starting in New Orleans with stops in Norfolk, Baltimore, New York and Boston. Only in Baltimore will sailors and aviators from around the world come together in the universal fellowship of freedom, hope, and opportunity that our country has always represented in a grand celebration of our Nation's 250th Anniversary. This event honors the dedication of the service members who have defended our freedoms at sea and in the air, both past and present for the past 250 years. The Baltimore Inner Harbor Festival will also feature local music, food and beverages and the opportunity to view and visit ships. United States and international naval vessels, United States Coast Guard ships, a fleet of international tall ships, sea service and other historic sailing vessels will be in port and open for free public tours.

The U.S. Navy Flight Demonstration Team, The Blue Angels, will be the stars of the Baltimore Airshow taking place over Baltimore Harbor. The flyovers will be visible from Fort McHenry and other areas around the harbor June 26 (rehearsal), 27 and 28. Perkiomen Tours offers you an option to view the ships and the airshow from the water. Cruise space is limited, so reserve your cruise space early. The optional cruise is approximately 2.5 hours long and will give you vantage points not available from land. The ship offers both inside and outside areas to sit in during the cruise, and there is a restroom. Snacks and drinks are available for purchase.

Timed Itinerary

A brief rest stop will be made enroute to Baltimore.

Free time at the Inner Harbor from approximately 10:00 AM until the bus departs at 7:00 PM.

For those choosing the optional cruise
12:45 PM: Report to the dock & check in…additional details will be provided
1:15 PM - 4:00 PM: Harbor Cruise

It is very important to plan your day to allow a timely return to the motorcoach prior to the 7:00 PM departure.

No stops will be made on the way home from Baltimore today. We suggest that you enjoy a meal prior to departing for home.

For Your Information

Festival events and ship visitation will take place rain or shine, except in severe conditions. Inclement weather may delay or cancel airshow and flyover activities. The optional cruise will operate as scheduled if the airshow is cancelled. The cruise departure time and the length of the cruise is subject to change based on the final schedule set by SAIL250 Maryland and Airshow. In the event of a delay in the cruise ending time, the Perkiomen bus will depart the Inner Harbor at the conclusion of the cruise if that time is after the scheduled departure time. Airshow Maryland cannot guarantee the U.S Navy's final decision for the Blue Angels Flight Demonstration to occur.

Regarding Tall Ships

Be prepared to pass minor security screenings. Prior to boarding the ships, all bags will be searched and anyone above the age of 18 will be required to show a form of identification. There is no age requirement to access naval vessels during SAIL250® Maryland; however, there may be steep ladders and/or stairways to climb and uneven surfaces to traverse during a ship tour, and thus, tours may not be appropriate for small children and may be difficult for parents carrying young children. Guests should wear comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes. NO SANDALS OR CROCS. Also, ship tours may not be appropriate for individuals with heart conditions, breathing difficulties, or other medical conditions or mobility challenges impacting their ability to navigate active-duty ships. Tips for Perkiomen motorcoach drivers and tour escorts are not included in the price of this tour. We feel that these gratuities should be extended on an individual basis and dictated by the level of service provided.

Motorcoach seating is assigned at the time of reservation but can not be guaranteed. Although we do our best to keep each traveler in the seat assigned at the time of reservation, there are times that it is necessary to move seat locations. Please be sure to verify your final seat number(s) with the driver at the time of boarding.

To fully participate in this tour may require extended amounts of walking. There may be steps, inclines, uneven surfaces or extended periods of standing. Participants with physical limitation should take this into consideration.
