Day 1

Traveling through the Shenandoah Valley, we'll make our way to Staunton, VA. Upon arrival we will enjoy a tour of Frontier Culture Museum. This open-air, living history museum is made up of original and reproduced examples of traditional buildings from the Old World and America. Costumed historical interpreters show the life and customs of the indigenous Native American tribes in Virginia, the arrival of the German, English, and Irish settlers along the Great Wagon Road, and the painful journey of the enslaved Africans to the first permanent British colony in North America. Visitors may also interact with a blacksmith at an Irish Forge, woodworkers, tailors, and yarn spinners and learn how the early settlers of America cooked and worked the land. Next, we will visit Sunspots Studios for a glass blowing demonstration. This evening will be free time for dinner & exploring on your own.

Day 2

After breakfast we'll head to Charlottesville to visit Monticello (also known as "Little Mountain") for a guided tour. This was the home of Thomas Jefferson from 1770 until his death in 1826. It is also an architectural masterpiece that Jefferson created, rebuilt, and revised throughout his lifetime. No president's home better reflects the personality of its owner. Afterwards, we will enjoy an included lunch at Michie Tavern before traveling to James Monroe's Highland for a guided tour. Purchased by Monroe in 1793, the property was home to the Monroe family for nearly 25 years. This evening will be free time for dinner & exploring on your own in Staunton.

Day 3

Today, we'll tour Luray Caverns. Known as "Geology's Hall of Fame", they are the largest and most popular caverns in Eastern America. You'll walk along lighted, paved walkways that lead you through cathedral-sized rooms with ceilings 10-stories high, towering stone formations, and natural wonders at every turn. After time for lunch on your own, we'll depart on the scenic Skyline Drive. Take in the fall foliage as we travel homeward. Arrival home is scheduled for early evening.
