Day 1

Touring southward brings us to our lodging in Burlington, North Carolina.

Day 2

This morning we visit historic Old Salem, a restored Moravian village. The spirits of these devout, industrious people live again as costumed workers introduce us to one of the most authentic restorations in America. Following lunch at the Old Salem Tavern we will depart for our lodging for the next two evenings at the Switzerland Inn. Tucked away in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, the inn is unsurpassed for its spectacular view! This evening, dinner will be included at the inn.

Day 3

Following a delicious breakfast at the inn we will explore northward along the Blue Ridge Parkway with stops at interesting attractions such as the Emerald Village Minerals Museum and Grandfather Mountain (weather permitting). Enjoy the marvelous views among the ribbon of road along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Back at the inn they will be busy getting ready for our evening meal.

Day 4

Sadly we must depart the lovely Switzerland Inn, but today we have other highlights to look forward to. First we will visit the magnificent Biltmore Mansion and Gardens. Surrounded by an estate of 8,000 acres, this huge mansion is fashioned after a French Renaissance Chateau with elaborate furnishings. Continuing west we will travel through Great Smoky Mountains National Park to our lodging for the next two evenings in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. This evening we will enjoy dinner and a show at Pirates Voyage. Join the most famous pirate, Blackbeard, and his quarter master, Calico Jack, as they lead the crews in a battle on land, on deck, and in water. Be amazed by beautiful mermaids, tropical birds and more as you enjoy a fabulous four-course feast.

Day 5

Our day will be spent at Dollywood, the "entertainment capital of the Smokies". The combination of shows, family rides and Dolly Parton's upbeat music will make the day extra special.

Day 6

This morning we will be entertained by Patty Waszak. This one-woman show will amaze you, as she plays 40 different musical instruments! We will stop for lunch on your own at Bush Bean's Visitor Center, where you can shop, eat, and take a self-guided tour of the museum. We will then depart the Smoky Mountains area. Our lodging this evening will be in Wytheville, Virginia.

Day 7

Today, the splendor of the Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains will remain etched in our memories long after our early evening return home.
