Day 1
Today we travel to Newark or Baltimore/Washington International Airport by motorcoach for an evening departure on Iceland Air.
Day 2
After an early morning arrival in Iceland, we will be met by our guide in the arrival hall of the airport who will take us to our private coach. Just a 15 minute drive from the airport is a spectacular modern building that offers beautiful views of the surrounding bay, Faxaflói. This is the new Viking museum, Vikingheimar, and it is the perfect stop for a welcome breakfast. Vikingheimar is the home of the Viking Ship Íslendingur (the Icelander). Built in 1996, Icelander is an exact replica of the famous Gokstad ship, a remarkable archaeological find of an almost completely intact Viking ship, excavated in Norway in 1882. Vikingheimar is also a home to a portion of the Viking millenium exhibition produced by the Smithsonian Institution. Next we drive to the capital of Iceland, Reykjavik. Reykjavik is the world's most northerly capital, with more than one third of Iceland's population. Today Reykjavik is a modern city with a variety of restaurants, museums, galleries, and theaters. On our tour we cover the city from one end to the other. A stop for lunch on our own will be made during today's touring. We will see the old town centre, the Parliment, the Cathedral, the harbour, the National Museum, the Pearl and Höfði house, the summit site of 1986. We drive past the city's salmon river which is an outstanding proof that Reykjavik is a pollution free capital and the Árbæjarsafn outdoor folk museum, which offers an interesting contrast to the modern buildings of the most recent park of Reykjavik. The drive continues past Reykjavik's largest outdoor swimming pool in Laugardalur which is heated with water from natural hot springs under the city, and Hallgrímskirkja Church (whose steeple is a Reykjavik landmark). Our lodging for the next three evenings will be at Fosshotel Reykjavik. We will check-in before we enjoy a Thanksgiving dinner with Icelandic Cuisine this evening.
B, DDay 3
After breakfast at the hotel, we'll begin our "Golden Circle" tour. We'll start our touring with a visit to the idyllic Friðheimar greenhouse cultivation centre, where we learn about the magic behind growing delicious, pesticide-free tomatoes and cucumbers with the aid of the geothermal heat that Iceland has in abundance. An unbelievable fact that few people know is that Iceland is the only country in the world where tomatoes are grown the whole year around. During this visit we will also visit the farm stable, where we get a close look of the famous Icelandic horse. After meeting these Icelandic farmers we continue our tour to Gullfoss (Golden Waterfall), one of the most impressive waterfalls in Europe. Here you will see thousands of tons of icy water thunder majestically down into a deep gorge. Our tour then continues on to the infamous Geysir area where we will discover the famous Geysir which has given its name to hot springs all over the world. You will see one of the most active geysers in the area, Strokkur, spouting up to 30 meters in the air. Lunch will be at a local restaurant. Our last visit of today is Þingvellir National Park, a remarkable geological site and the most historic site on the island. The world's oldest democratic parliament was founded here in 930. Þingvellir, located by Lake Þingvallavatn, the largest lake on the island; is now a national park and has been a World Heritage Site since 2004. The beautiful canyon running through the park is actually the meeting point of two of the earth's tectonic plates. The area's combination of natural phenomena and historical significance make it inseparable from the fabric of Icelandic national life. We will arrive back to Reykjavik in the late afternoon. The remainder of the day is at your leisure. (Order of itinerary subject to change.)
B, LDay 4
After breakfast at the hotel, your day is free to plan as you wish. Iceland is about the size of Kentucky with a sparse population of 275,000. Settled over 1000 years ago by Norwegian Vikings, Iceland boasts a rich European history. The climate is a surprisingly warm average of 32 degrees F. The cuisine features lamb and fresh fish. The adventurous may spend the day horseback riding or snowmobiling. Reykjavik features a unique downtown experience including cuisine, culture, and European shopping. The evening offers diverse nightlife.
BDay 5
Following breakfast, we will check-out of our hotel and partake in an excursion to the Blue Lagoon. Be sure to have a bathing suit and towel in your carry on so you can bathe in the naturally heated, mineral rich pool of water in the middle of a lava field. There will be time for lunch on our own before arriving at the airport for our return flight. Gaining time as we fly westward, we will arrive on the east coast this evening and transfer home.
BOptional Excursions

Customers are asked to:
NOT pack food or beverages in checked bags
Pack footwear on top of other contents
Put personal belongings in clear plastic bags to reduce chances of TSA Screeners having to handle them
Spread out - NOT stack - books
Leave gifts unwrapped should screening require them to be opened
Put scissors, pocket knives and other sharp items in checked luggage
Put film in carry-on bag because screening equipment will damage undeveloped film
Avoid over-packing your bag so that the screener will be able to easily reseal your bag if it is opened for inspection
