The Kentucky Derby

Day 1

This is the day we've been waiting for...our departure for The Kentucky Derby! Our overnight accommodations will be located in Grove City, OH. You are free to enjoy the Kickback Dinner at the hotel or dinner at your leisure.

Day 2

After breakfast at the hotel, we will depart for Cincinnati, OH where we will enjoy a Riverfront Stadium Site Tour, highlighting landmarks of the old stadium, including Home Plate, the Pitcher's mound, base locations, the outfield, and more while learning about the history of the ballpark. We will also have time to explore the Hall of Fame & Museum. We will then continue our southwest journey to Louisville, KY, the location of our lodging for the next three evenings. This evening we will enjoy a Bourbon, Barbecue and Country Music Dinner. There will be dancing and a bourbon tasting opportunity. Tonight we will be part of a festive evening planned as our kick-off event to the Derby.

Day 3

After breakfast at the hotel, we will enjoy a full day of touring. The sequence of events for this day may not be as shown here. There will be many groups in Louisville and attractions will be scheduled to accommodate all groups, as to not overwhelm suppliers or make you suffer in lines. You don't have to be a baseball fan to love the Louisville Slugger Museum and Factory. It's iconic, linked to legends, and is one of Louisville's best known attractions. The tour is fascinating with interactive exhibits that are fun! Lunch today will be in the banquet room of Claudia Sanders Dinner House. We will have a chance to visit Derby Hat Boutique where you can buy hats and accessories, a very important part of the Kentucky Derby Experience! During today's touring, we will visit a horse training facility to see training in progress. At this time of year, it is also possible to see a new foal up close and personal. This afternoon we will return to our hotel for a chance to freshen up before tonight's "Off to the Races Dinner Party". The meal is a special "Taste of Kentucky" menu. Consider this a warm up to the big race tomorrow, a practice session, a chance to make a few bets, cheer for the favorite, and share some laughs!

Day 4

Today's first event is the Derby Day Riverboat Cruise. Once underway there will be experts providing a few insider tips on the Derby Race. They will talk about the Horses, how they run in different conditions, who has the post and what that means, information on the trainers and their Derby History, and more. You will also learn how to place a real bet at Churchill Downs. Next is the highlight of your trip, you have a VIP Fast Access Pass to Churchill Downs and 1st floor Grandstand Seats near the Starting Line. Tickets come with unlimited food and drink. You will be at The Derby all day, enjoy crowd watching, sample a mint julep, and place a few bets. This is one of the world's greatest and most celebrated sporting events, "The Fastest Two Minutes in Sports" and you are on hand to experience it all!
Please Note: We have been informed that all participants should be prepared to walk a long distance from the motorcoach drop off point to their seats at Churchill Downs.

Day 5

After breakfast at the hotel, we will check-out and depart for Grove City, OH, the location of our overnight accommodations. You are free to enjoy the Kickback Dinner at the hotel or dinner at your leisure.

Day 6

This morning, after breakfast, we will check-out and depart for home. Arrival home is scheduled for early evening.

Motorcoach seating is assigned at the time of reservation but cannot be guaranteed. Although we do our best to keep each traveler in the seat assigned at the time of reservation, there are times that it is necessary to move seat locations. Please be sure to verify your final seat number(s) with your driver at the time of boarding. Historically, daily seat rotation was practiced on most multi-day tours. We have suspended this practice for a period of time. Seat rotation will be explained by your driver or tour escort if reinstated.
